A RAM FAN comments on the Mennen Division of MCSSIHL (1/18/2020)

Current Standings:

  • Morris Knolls: Overall 8-4-2 // Division 5-1-1
  • Randolph: Overall 11-2-2 // Division 4-1-1
  • MoBeard: Overall 10-2-2 // Division 4-2-0
  • Chatham: Overall 7-3-2 // Division 3-2-2
  • Morristown: Overall 7-7-2 // Division 2-5-1
  • Madison: Overall 6-8-1 // Division 0-7-1

At this point in the season, the Mennen League is crowded at the top and the next four games will decide the final standings:

  • Morris Knolls is in first place with a 5-1-1 record. Their next 3 games against Beard (1/20}, the RAMS (1/24) and Chatham (1/27) will decide their ranking.
  • The Randolph RAMS are in second place with a game in hand, 4-1-1. Their next four games are:
Chatham (1/22), Knolls (1/24), Morristown (1/27), and Madison (2/1). If they win out, they will have first in the Mennen Division, since they will have defeated Knolls on 1/24.
Note: The RAMS overall record is 11-2-2 and they are ranked 10th in the state, currently the highest ranked public school in New Jersey.
  • Morristown Beard is now in the 3rd place in the Mennen Division with a 4-2-0 record. They are ranked 8th in the state with a 10-2-1 overall record. Their next 4 games are with Knolls (1/20), Madison (1/22), Morristown (1/29), and Chatham (1/31). If the RAMS win their four games, Beard cannot get first in the Mennen having lost to the RAMS 3-5 on 12/3/2019, and Knolls 6-1 on 12/6/2019.
  • More about Morristown Beard:
Since losing their first two games to Randolph and Knolls, Beard are undefeated winning their last 11 games including Princeton Day 8-3. They have 3 players who have scored 10 goals: senior Tom Matthews #9 (10 goals and 20 assists with 1 GWG) and juniors Cam Fernandez #16 (10 goals and 11 assists with 2 GWG) and Seth Kaplan #27 (10 goals and 16 assists with 3 GWG).
  • Again, if the Rams win out, they will clinch first.

Go Rams!

Beyond the Mennen Division: Ridge, the team that defeated Randolph 4 to 1 at the Rock last year in the New Jersey Public Group B finals, is having another very good year. They are ranked #15 in the state with a 13-2-3 overall record and are in first place in the Skyland Division. They have scored 75 goals and allowed 42 this season.
Randolph has scored 68 goals and allowed 21.

Coming up: A great game to scout the state competition will be Ridge vs. Beard at Mennen Arena on 2/5/2020 @ 5:45pm.
