If I asked you to guess the winner and score of the first game of the 2020 Mennen Cup for high school ice hockey, I would be very confident that you would not guess 1-0 and you definitely would not guess that Madison would be the winner over Morris Knolls.

After all, Madison did not win a single game against any team in the Mennen division this season (0-9-1) giving up 63 goals and scoring 17, losing to Knolls 1-7 and 0-9.

Liam Fry scored for Madison with 10 minutes left in the third period and Knolls could not get one of their 43 shots on goal passed Madison goaltender #1 Tom Keaton.

Randolph defeated Madison 6-0 and 4-1 this season and tied Morris Knolls in both games 3-3 and 1-1, so from the RAMS perspective, they dodged a bullet.

But I would bet Knolls felt the same way prior to last night.

Anyway, the RAMS will play Madison next Thursday @ Mennen at 8:15pm in the second round of the Cup.

GO RAMS!
