Before the RAMS start the 2020 playoffs, here is how far winning can go:

The Liverpool Football Club (LFC) is an English soccer team playing in the English Premier League (EPL) ever since it was inaugurated in 1992.  LFC was founded in 1892 (127 years ago). They have won 18 league titles in England but none in the EPL which is considered the toughest soccer league in the world with players from all over.

The EPL has 20 teams and if a club is in one of the bottom three positions at the end of the season, they are relegated out of the EPL and must play in the English Football League (next tier down).  The top three teams from the English Football League move up to the English Premier League.

Last season (2018-2019), Liverpool played 38 games and only lost once. That one loss caused them to come in second place just one point behind the champions Manchester City.

Liverpool has not lost in the EPL since that loss to Manchester City, they are undefeated for 42 straight EPL games.

  • This season, Liverpool has played 25 games of their 38 game season, winning 24 and tying one against Manchester United 1-1 on October 20, 2019.
  • The second place team, Manchester City is 6 games behind Liverpool this season, so Liverpool can win the league in March (that’s 7 games before the end of the season in May).

How can this be possible?  Look at the records of every team playing high school hockey in our area, not one is undefeated.

The answer is simple:  When the manager of Liverpool was asked that question he answered: “We’re not dreaming, we’re focused.” The player’s focus is on the daily things that need to be done to win the next game. Not dreaming about the title, the trophy, the banner, the award… just the next team we are playing and what it will take to beat them.

And so the word for the RAMS that says it all is FOCUS… play every shift, every period and every game one at a time and focus on winning just that game!

I know it sounds too simple… but Liverpool has done this for 42 games in a row in the toughest league in the world after not winning the English trophy for 30 years.

Anything is possible…stay FOCUSED! Go Rams!
