Quarterfinal Shutout

RAMS 6 – Southern 0

On Wednesday 3/4, the RAMS will face Middletown South in the PUBLIC B Semifinals at Codey @ 6:30pm.

The RAMS shutout Southern last night at Aspen with Goals from game winner Chris Civetta, also Ben Yurchuk, Evan Xhumba, Matt Rogers and two from Nick Gallo.

Nick’s first goal was one of the best of the season. Late in the first period, Nick took a heavy hit at the left face off circle. As he was spinning he pulled himself up on his skates and skated laterally to face the Southern goalie about eight feet away, deeked and snapped his shot to the back of the net for the RAMS third goal. Amazing!

RAMS captain JT Zangara exhibited his leadership with three assists on the night and Matt Cislo, Mike Sofia, Ben Yurchuk, Justin Harper, Kyle Barbera, and Chris Civetta followed his lead. Similar to Monday’s 8-0 victory, a shutout is frustrating to the opposition and Southern’s response was seven penalties: one in the first, two in the second and four in the third.

Another observation: the sophomore goaltender for Southern shutout the RAMS in the second period, but gave up three goals in the first and third periods.  Could it be that the RAMS supporters right behind the opponent’s goaltender during those periods had a bearing?
