Beard over Ridge

A RAM fan comments on the competitors game on February 6th:

Morristown Beard 4-3 over Ridge.

As predicted, last night’s clash at Mennen between # 7 Morristown Beard and #17 Ridge turned out to live up to the hype.

MB junior Cam Fernandez opened the scoring in the first, but Ridge replied with junior Matt Balzarotti scoring in the first and second period and senior Tyler Ebeling scoring Ridge’s third goal in the second.

Ridge went into the third period up 3 – 1, but MB junior Seth Kaplan scored two goals in 3 minutes and Cam Fernandez scored the game winner in the final minute to give MB the 4-3 win.

MB senior Tommy Matthews assisted on three of their four goals in the game.

Since Beard will be the toughest rival for the RAMS in the Mennen Cup and Ridge is the team that denied the RAMS at the final Public B game last March and it looks like they may be there this year, here are some interesting stats on this season:

MB (16-3-1) : Cam Fernandez has 13 goals and 20 assists, Seth Kaplan has 17 goals and 20 assists, and Tommy Matthews has 15 goals and 29 assists. The goaltending has been shared by Luke McManus (8 games: 217 shots with 23 goals allowed), Chili Connell (6 games: 144 shots with 17 goals allowed, and Paul Detre (6 games: 111 shots with 15 goals allowed). Detre was in goal when Randolph defeated MB 5-3 on 12/3/19 and McManus was in goal when Beard beat the Rams 4-3 on 12/27/19.

Ridge (14-4-5) : Matt Balzarotti has 16 goals and 21 assists, Tyler Ebeling has 14 goals and 16 assists, Erik Helgeson has 14 goals and 15 assists. Senior goaltender Marcus Fabiunke has faced 468 shots on goal allowing 39 goals. He has been in goal for all their games.
