Losing Focus
The 29th day of February, 2020 – A Leap Year!
Today, the Liverpool Football Club lost a soccer game in the English Premier League for the first time in 422 days ending an 18 game winning streak (tied for the longest in Premier League history) and a 44 game unbeaten streak (they had tied 5 games). Today, Liverpool lost to Watford, a team they had shutout the last 8 times by a combined score of 15-0. Watford has a record of 6 wins, 9 ties, and 13 losses, and was sitting in 19th place out of 20 teams. They had a 5 game winless streak. In spite of all that, today, Liverpool was shutout by Watford, 3-0.
Liverpool’s prior loss was last season to Manchester City 2-1 on January 3, 2019. Manchester City was last season’s champion, one point ahead of Liverpool.
So what happened?
When the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was asked, he answered:
“We lost focus.”
Liverpool will still win the league this season if they win 4 of the last 10 games.
Moral of the Story: Any team can beat any team in any game if the other team loses focus!
SO STAY FOCUSED! GO RAMS!
