Rankings Update
Randolph competes in the Mennen Division of the MCSSIHL Conference (Morris County, New Jersey).
As of February 9th , the Mennen continues to be considered the best New Jersey public high school division in the state for ice hockey.
The latest NJ.com rankings still have 4 of the 5 teams in the Mennen Division in the state’s top 20 but the order has changed as follows:
- Morristown Beard (1-1-1) continues to be ranked 6th
- Morris Knolls-Hills (2-1-1) has moved up to 13th (from 16th)
- Randolph (2-1-1) has dropped down to 15th (from 10th)
- Chatham (2-3-0) has moved to 16th (down from 15th)
- Morristown is not in the top 20
The rankings match up to the Mennen Division current standings. The next Rams game was to be Morristown (2-3-1) versus Randolph (2-1-1) on Sunday 2/14/2021. Yeah, it was supposed to be on Valentine’s Day but the team decided to stay home with their moms and girlfriends instead. Or the game was cancelled due to covid (the dirtiest word in the English language).
Anticipating the game, we did a little scouting of Morristown:
The Rams have won 4 of the last 5 games against Morristown. The last game was a 2-2 tie on 1/27/2020 that negatively affected the Rams standings in the Mennen just before the division playoffs last season.
Morristown has played 6 games between January 17th and 30th this season with a 2-3-1 record, defeating Madison 4-0 and Kinnelon 7-0, losing to Beard 1-6, Roxbury 2-5, and Knolls 2-7, and tying Northern Highlands 1-1.
Junior forwards Jack McKenna #13 (6 goals and 2 assists) and Harry Santen #11 (4 goals and 3 assists) continue to carry their offense and Dylan Peck #27 goaltending shores up the defense for another season. So far, Peck has faced 166 shots, saving 147 with 19 goals against. Morristown will close out their regular season against Mennen division teams: Randolph, Knolls, Chatham and Beard. But this season, who knows? It’s a day by day decision. Safety first!
The Rams will not be able to play until after their quarantine is over on February 25th. They were scheduled to close out the shortened regular season with back to back games against the 6th ranked Morristown Beard on Wednesday 2/17/2021 and two nights later on Friday. But now, who knows???
Stay Focused and Safe!!
