The state playoffs began yesterday and already there were surprises.
Here are some things that might interest a RAMS fan:
The rankings listed are for the tournament not the Top 20. Each group is ranked from 1 to 16 and then at large teams are added for the preliminary round.
- Public C: Madison showed their appreciation of their #17 at large bid by defeating #16 Millburn 8-4. Madison will be rewarded by now facing #1 Summit on Friday at Union Sports Arena.
- Non Public: #6 Seton Hall destroyed #11 St. John Vianney 10-0 last night. Like Beard, Hall is another team remembering the taste of losing (to us 4-2 two weeks ago), with 8 skaters scoring for Hall.
- Public B: This is the group where the RAMS are the #1 seed. Tonight at Floyd Hall, #16 Passaic Valley will face #17 West Milford. The winner will face the RAMS on Thursday.
- If the RAMS win that first round game, they will face the winner of the #9 Princeton (18-3-2) versus #8 Southern (9-14-2) in the Quarter-Finals on Monday, March 2nd.
- In their last game, Princeton shocked Hun in the Mercer County Final on 2/21/2020. After allowing a short handed goal and falling behind 5 goals to none with 4 minutes left in the second period, they scored two goals before the period ended and 5 goals late in the third to win the cup 7-5. Princeton and Madison are examples of the joy and cruelty of the game and the bravery of everyone who is willing to play on!
Go Rams!
