A RAM fan comments on the Seton Hall Prep game on February 10th:
#10 RAMS 4-2 over #6 Seton Hall Prep
- The way Randolph came out in this game makes you proud to be a fan!
- The RAMS spoiled Seton Hall Prep’s senior night at their home ice at Codey Arena, yesterday afternoon.
- Kyle Barbera broke the ice with the RAMS first goal at 10:34 of the first period and with 2:35 left in the period Seton Hall earned a cross checking penalty, so you felt we would get through the period ahead. Jack Schneider of Seton Hall spoiled that with his goal with 15 seconds left in the period. The period ended 1-1.
- In the second, Mike Sofia had a slashing penalty at 12:55 and Seton Hall’s Brendan Waivada took advantage with a goal at 12:02, SHP pulled ahead 2-1. Evan Xhumba responded with a goal at 9:09 and Matt Rogers followed with a tally at 4:58, the RAMS got back the lead 3-2.
- In the third, Nick Gallo scored at 7:11 and the RAMS withstood the Seton pressure to secure the win 4-2 against the highest ranking team the RAMS faced this season. YES!
- This was a team win exemplified by assists from Kyle Barbera, Chris Civetta, Matt Cislo, Mike Sofia, Justin Harper, Evan Xhumba and two from Zach Gallo.
- The team effort of the defense was highlighted by the shots on goal. Goaltender Gavin Einfeldt faced 29 shots while SHP’s Jake Schunke faced 20 shots on goal. The only other games where the opponent had more shots on goal than the RAMS were their only two losses: Princeton Day 1-3 on 12/5/2020 and Morristown Beard 3-4 on 12/27/2020. That makes the win even more satisfying. The whole team contributed.
Now comes the Mennen Cup and nemesis #7 Morristown Beard and #19 Morris Knolls! Not to mention that tie with Morristown 2-2 last month (just keeping it real!).
