Mennen Division of Morris County Standings:
OKAY!!! The “Miracle On Ice” happened last night and almost a hundred Rams fans watched the Live Streaming on You Tube.
And even better, the Rams defeated Chatham 3-1 to move into first place in the Mennen Division.
The game got off to a rocky start. The live streaming had problems with the audio and the Rams played as if the ice had turned to mud (meaning a slow start.) The play by play announcer was putting Mike Park in goal for Randolph and Joe Yutsus in goal for Chatham and mispronouncing his last name until Mike Walsh corrected him late in the third period. The announcer put pressure on Joe Yutsus with this comment: “Joe Yutsus has big skates to fill” referring to Gavin.
The first two shots that Chatham put on goal were saved by Joe, but he looked over his shoulder both times to see if the puck got past him, it did not.
Five minutes in, Zach Gallo took advantage of the slow start and placed a pass from Andrew Iglar on net for the Rams first score of the season. The first period ended 1-0 and the announcer commented that the Rams goalie did “a fantastic job.”
In the second, the announcer commented that “Chatham had not scored a goal against Randolph since January 11th, 2019 and the Rams had scored 12 unanswered goals since then.” Half way through the period near the end of a Chatham penalty kill, Zach Gallo takes his shot into the top corner assisted by Matt Cislo and Jordan Cross to put the Rams up two to nothing.
Less than a minute later, Ben Yurchuk decided that he needed to join in and assisted by Nicholas Gaynor and Luke Spagnuolo, he scored, putting the Rams up three nothing.
Early in the third, Chatham ended their drought and Declan Curry scored. The goal rejuvenated Chatham and the Rams were “under siege”, but the defense held and the game ended three to one Rams.
Ryan Patti, a reporter from NJ Advance Media for NJ.com, noted: “Joe Yutsus made 18 saves between the pipes for Randolph.”and “Zach Gallo found the net twice to lift number 10 Randolph to a 3-1 win over number 14 Chatham.”

Reminder: The record for the Rams on the 31 st of January last year was 13 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses (that‘s 19 games). Just saying!
As of now, the Rams are scheduled to skate at Mennen Arena versus Morris Knolls-Hills High School on Wednesday 2/3/2021 at 5:45pm. This game will match the 2020 NJ State Champions for Public B and C. Morris Knolls kicked off their season with a 4 to 2 win over Public State Champions Summit High School on January 18th . Summit was 9th in the state preseason rankings. Then Knolls lost to Chatham 1-2 on 1/22/2021.
As stated before the Chatham game, the Rams skaters must know that every team will be trying to upset the reigning Public B State Champions, especially Morris Knolls. And so, the Rams’ coach Rich McLaughlin’s 29 th season begins. Again, this year our motto must be the same as last year, but even more so:
STAY FOCUSED!!!
And this season:
STAY SAFE!!!
And after the Chatham game:
FORECHECK!!!
